We have been waiting for this news for a long time and as of March 2022 it will be official.
Out of all the farms in Cavallino-Treporti, Riccardo’s Junior Farm is the second to be certified. This certification has been one of Riccardo’s goals for years and it has not been easy to achieve.
You might ask us: what does it mean to be a certified organic farm?
The certification is granted only to those farms who follow a set of rules that the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies establishes.
Produce like artichokes, asparagus, onions, shallots, leaks, potatoes, beans, wheat, aubergines, tomatoes and peppers are grown without using chemicals and alternative ways to defeat parasites are implemented. For example the so-called ninja wasp and the carbid beetle are utilised to defeat artichoke bugs while other bugs are removed manually.
Checks on the initial phases of the production process have to be carried out as well as on the following phases such as transformation, storage and transportation.
As of March 2022 all the products from the Junior Farm will be officially organic and they will be ready to be purchased directly by contacting Riccardo or to be tasted at the Junior Family Hotel’s “InSaor” restaurant.
Let’s celebrate with a nice organic soup!
