Cavallino, as it puts down its own roots in the history and the tradition of Venice, it is a town centre with a lively folkloristic activity. Let’s see in a chronological order which are the main events of this place.
Sparasea Fair
May 1st.
Officially established in 1970, this country festival comes in the same day of the workers’ fair, but it means much more in Cavallino. It is the day when the town gathers in the public square of Cavallino to taste the local asparagus with firm eggs. All this is surrounded by traditional music, dances, fireworks and amusements.
Palio Remiero
On Whitsunday week.
This event, recently established, has found an enormous happening in our coasts. It is a real competition between the twelve ‘contradas’ (little quarters) which challenge each other in many regattas with the Venetian row along Pordelio, the channel of the lagoon, which coasts the shore in all its length.
Redentore feast
3rd Saturday of July.
This ancient Venetian fair resounds even all along the coasts where you can easily find parties in the houses of countrymen and in the public square.
But most of all you cannot forget the fireworks display, one of the best in Italy.
Festival of the Madonna del Carmine
3rd Sunday of July.
The day after the Savior, the age-old procession of the wooden statue of the Madonna del Carmine made in the 6th century is celebrated in the little church built in the 5th century in Prà of Saccagnana where a Mass is celebrated. This festival is also called Sagra della Sucheta ( yellow plums in dialect), a very appreciated fruit given out to the guests during the folk dance on the farmyard when hanging out in the evenings was an unavoidable need.
Albachiara
Sunday, August 19th.
The magic of music meets with the breath-taking atmosphere of dawn on the beach, with the first rays of sun illuminating the calm sea.
The third edition of the concert on the sea at sunrise starts at 5 a.m., at La Duna in Cavallino.
Feast of the Assumption – Ferragosto
August 15th.
Feast of ancient establishement in the whole Italy, it is celebrated by the Junior Hotel with a special lunch enriched by a refined menu, and in the evening we celebrate with all our guests in our Hotel with music alive and batheing at midnight in our swimming pool.
Beach on Fire
End of August.
This event, recently established, has as its leading actor all the coastline from where, in ten different places, the longest fireworks of the world are shooted. 12 kilometers of beach are illuminated by a pyrotechnic and unforgettable display that you can see even from the coast and for the luckiest even from the sea on the boats.
Regata da Mar
First week of September.
On the model of Palio Remiero success, a second race of Venetian row has been established, this time it is in the harder waters of the sea rather than in the calmer waters of the lagoon. The tourists can follow this competition from the beach being supporters of the quarter where they are accommodated.
Festival of the Tempeston
Last August Sunday.
The celebration of this festivity has been known since 1849, when Venice returned under the Austrian power. In this occasion in Treporti we celebrate the thunderstorm (the so called ‘tempeston’) which in that occasion destroyed the stained glass windows of the church and the harvests of the fields.
El Paviner
January 5th.
Fair of pagan origin which comes in the eve of Epiphany, the witch’s fire on tall wood poles decorated with funny flying Epiphanies, it matches with “vin brulé” (spiced red hot wine) for the adults and stockings filled with sweets for the children.
